Boxes of bare-rooted Louisiana iris rhizomes available for sale at a nursery display by IRIS HAVEN
Due to the nature of compiling this online catalogue; and in an effort to meet the vastly varying needs of our customers in Australia and other countries; we have split the trading details for each relevant area as follows:
A) TERMS FOR AUSTRALIAN CUSTOMERS;
B) TERMS FOR OTHER SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE COUNTRIES (New Zealand, Repub. of South Africa etc.)
C) USA
D) JAPAN, SINGAPORE AND OTHER ASIAN COUNTRIES
E) EUROPEAN COUNTRIES
If you find this all too confusing, then just send us an email and we will do our best to assist you on a personal basis. We can send overseas customers a copy of our Overseas Orders Information Sheet, which is self-explanatory - and written in plain english. It answers many FAQ's relating to exportation costs and the importation procedures for your country. Australian customers need only refer to A) above.

AUSTRALIAN CUSTOMERS TERMS AND CONDITIONS
All orders received will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Orders will be filled upon payment - generally on a weekly basis from approx. 10th December, 2007 onwards until approx. 31st July, 2008 inclusive. All orders will be despatched via Australia Post's Express Post satchel service every Monday, within Australia (unless other arrangements are made with us beforehand).
Please allow $5.50 for every 1-4 rhizomes (ie. we can only fit a maximum of 4 plants in a $5.50 satchel!) and/or $8.80 for every 5-10 rhizomes ordered (ie. we can only fit a maximum of 10 rhizomes in an $8.80 satchel).
For example, if you want to order 12 rhizomes, you will need to include costs for one $8.80 stachel and one $5.50 satchel with your order. Please do not just chose the $8.80 option for 12 rhizomes - and expect us to despatch in one satchel. Your order will be delayed until shipping at the appropriate rate is resolved. We CANNOT fit more than 10 rhizomes in an $8.80 Express Post satchel - so please don't expect us to.
As noted on the homepage of this website, GST has not been added to the costs charged for the rhizomes noted on the website. GST NEEDS TO BE ADDED to the total of your order prior to sending it to us. Please don't forget to add the GST.
Upon payment in full, including all shipping and packing fees (if any), your order will be despatched on the next Monday - or at a time arranged with us in advance.
In Australia IRIS HAVEN accepts payment via Visa, Mastercard, American Express, personal cheques (once cleared) and Australia Post Money Orders.
WE DO NOT HAVE AN ORDER FORM AS PART OF THIS WEBSITE. To place an order, simply email us your order to: irishaven@pip.com.au, or telephone us on (02) 9144 3805 or fax us on (02) 9440 0663 (our fax line is also our internet line).
The despatch of orders in excess of 30 rhizomes can be arranged with us on an individual basis. Orders can also be collected from our home in Turramurra, with prior arrangements made.
Substitutions will be made for out-of-stock cultivars ONLY with your permission. If we need to substitute a cultivar, we will do so with another cultivar of equal or greater value - and of a similar colour hue wherever possible. If ordering via a paper order form from our paper catalogue, please check the 'substitutes' option on the order form.
If we do not have any of our new or recent releases left, your money for same will be refunded - as we do not substitute for any new or recent releases.
Any gift rhizome we provide is usually included with every order of 6 rhizomes. Gifts for orders of less than 6 rhizomes will be provided at our discretion and/or only if there is space in your shipment satchel. If you do not wish to receive any gift rhizomes, please advise us of this when you order. For those using a paper order form from our paper catalogue - please check the 'gift rhizomes' option.
We guarantee that all rhizomes provided are true to name - unlike some other mail order nurseries.
We do not replace rhizomes lost due to individual gardening practices or adverse weather conditions which are experienced by you in your own garden. Naturally, these are two circumstances over which we have no control - but you do. However, we are happy to replace shipments which are lost in the postal system. Proof of loss will be required from Australia Post. All Express Post satchels carry a bar-coded number, so we can use this to assist you to trace any lost shipments.
Extensive Cultural Notes are provided with each and every shipment/order. These have been prepared from many years of experience from growing the irises and/or daylilies you have ordered. PLEASE READ THEM! If you lose your Cultural Notes, just let us know and we will happily send you another copy. Alternatively, please check page 2 of this website, as it sets out Cultural Notes for Louisiana irises.

WE DO NOT HAVE AN ORDER FORM as part of this website. Please email us at irishaven@pip.com.au or fax us on 61 2 9440 0663 to send us your order. Please note that our fax line is our internet access line, so if you try to fax us and you get an 'engaged' signal - we are probably online.
All export shipments from Australia will require a Phytosanitary Certificate from AQIS - Australia's Quarantine service. The cost of the Phytosanitary Certificate varies from year to year, so please contact us to obtain the current costing.
We will be happy to forward you a copy of our Overseas Orders Information Sheet prior to you placing an order. This information sheet sets out the procedures required to effect an exportation of your order from Australia - and the relevant costs.
All overseas orders MUST be made using a valid credit card number. Your credit card will not be debited until just before the shipment is despatched to you. To this end we advise that IRIS HAVEN accepts Visa, Mastercard and American Express credit cards for overseas orders.
GST is not payable on export orders, so the prices noted on this website will be the prices charged to you - as they do not include GST.
Please contact us if you have any further enquiries and we will be happy to assist you further.
IF ORDERING FROM NEW ZEALAND, please note that we now have an agency in New Zealand. RIVENDELL IRIS GARDEN are located in the Bay of Plenty area of the North Island. Please check our LINKS PAGE for their direct website access, or email them below. If you would like to order any plants from us, we would suggest that you contact us and we will put you in touch with our NZ agents. That way any order that you wish to place can be added to our next bulk shipment to our NZ agents.
IF ORDERING FROM SOUTH AFRICA, please contact us directly so that we can advise you of the specific requirements of the appropriate Agricultural Authority in your home country. Some countries require that you obtain an Import Permit prior to your order being exported from Australia. Other countires require extensive "Additional Declaration" details be noted on the Phytosanitary Certificate. We will be happy to work with you to ensure that all procedures are complied with.
IF ORDERING FROM SOUTH AMERICA - please read the notes above relating to shipments to South Africa.
We can supply most southern hemisphere countries with rhizomes at the same time as our Australian customers (ie. from 10th December, 2007 until approx. 31st July, 2008).

Please note that we now have an agent in the USA for our cultivars. Greg and Macey McCullough of IRIS CITY GARDENS in Nashville, TN act as our US agents - and co-release IRIS HAVEN cultivars directly to the USA on an annual basis.
Iris City/Iris Haven co-release cultivars will be generally made available to northern hemisphere customers from Iris City in the northern hemisphere spring of any one year. These same cultivars may then be listed on the Iris Haven website - and made available to our southern hemisphere customers in the southern hemisphere spring of that same calendar year. However, most co-release cultivars will be made available via Iris Haven at least 12-18 months after they have been released by Iris City in the USA, so if you want a particular cultivar that is being co-released, then we'd recommend that you purchase them directly from IRIS CITY GARDENS.
Notwithstanding this, IRIS HAVEN is still shipping small orders to private customers in the USA. Generally speaking, shipping from Australia to the USA commences for us from approx. mid February (to Florida and other southern states) and concludes at the end of July (to the more northern states) in any one year. We DO NOT ship rhizomes to the USA during the traditional American 'iris shipping time' of October - as this is bloom season in Australia. Remember the reverse of seasons.....
WE DO NOT HAVE AN ORDER FORM AS PART OF THIS WEBSITE. To place an order, you can contact us via email at irishaven@pip.com.au or fax us on 61 2 9440 0663. Remember that there is a considerable time difference between the USA and Australia and if you wish to telephone us, check the times between the two countries FIRST.
We will be happy to send you a copy of our Overseas Orders Information Sheet, which sets out all of the procedures and costs involved in an export shipment.
The current exchange rate between the USA and Australia (with AU $10 costing most US customers between US $7 and US $8 to purchase) is very convenient. Exchange rates vary from day to day - but the approx. exchange rate noted above will give you an idea.
All orders must be made via a valid credit card. Your credit card will not be debited until just before despatch of your shipment. To this end we are happy to advise that IRIS HAVEN accepts payments from Visa, Mastercard and American Express from all US customers.
Because of the vaguaries of shipping rhizomes from one hemisphere to the other, we endeavour to provide all northern hemisphere customers with substantial gift rhizomes.
If you are ordering more than 30 rhizomes you may need to obtain an Import Permit from the USDA. Please contact your local authorities to obtain further clarification of this matter. If you are ordering less than 30 rhizomes, it is our experience that the USDA do not consider this to be an order of commercial quantity - and an Import Permit may not be required. However, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you ascertain this information from the USDA before you place your order.

Shipping to various countries in Asia and/or Europe all require slightly different "Additional Declaration" statements on the Phytosanitary Certificate.
Some countries require you the importer to have an Import Permit. Before you plan to order from us, may we recommend that you contact the Agricultural Authorities in your country and ascertain what they require to be stated on the AQIS-issued Phytosanitary Certificate. Louisiana irises are a rhizome (or bulb) so you'll need to also ask if there are any additional declaration statements relating to the importation of Louisiana irises into your country. The botanical name for Louisiana irises is IRIS HEXAGONAE. You may be asked this.
Once you know what is required, please contact us and we will liase with AQIS here in Australia to ensure that a 100% accurate Phytosanitary Certificate is issued.
We have exported to Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, England, Poland and New Caledonia in the past, so do have experience with the requirements for these countries already.
We generally ship to Asia and Europe from about mid February until about late July in any one year. We DO NOT ship in the traditional northern hemisphere shipping time of October, as this is bloom time in Australia.
DON'T FORGET TO READ THE 'ORDERING IS AS EASY AS CLICKING YOUR MOUSE' SECTION BELOW BEFORE SENDING OFF YOUR ORDER.
WE DO NOT HAVE AN ORDER FORM available as part of this website. To place an order, or make an enquiry, you can telephone us on 61 (Australia) 2 (Sydney) 9144 3805, or fax us on 61 2 9440 0663, or email us at irishaven@pip.com.au.
Before ordering, please ensure that you have read the details relating to your area (domestic orders within Australia, or overseas orders) above - and either telephone, fax or email your order.
Unless otherwise advised, we will substitute any out-of-stock cultivar with a cultivar of equal or greater value - and of a similar colour hue. If you do not wish to recieve a substitute cultivar for any out-of-stock cultivar, then PLEASE ADVISE US when placing your order. As mentioned previously, we do not substitute for new or recent releases - your money will be refunded.
The prices on this website are in Australian dollars and DO NOT INCLUDE GST. ALL AUSTRALIAN CUSTOMERS WILL NEED TO ADD GST to their order. Overseas customers need not bother, as GST is not payable on export orders and the prices on the website will be what overseas customers are charged.
Payment for your order must accompany your order. In Australia you can pay with an Australian Money Order or via credit card or cheque. IRIS HAVEN accepts Bankcard, Visa, Mastercard, American Express from Australian customers. All orders via an Australian cheque will be despatched once your cheque has cleared our account.
Overseas customers can pay with a valid credit card. IRIS HAVEN accepts Visa, Mastercard and American Express from overseas customers.
For Overseas customers who have not ordered from us before, we are happy to forward you a copy of our Overseas Orders Information Sheet, which sets out all of the procedures and costs involved with exportation of your order from Australia. The sheet also answers many FAQ's - and is written in plain English.
Naturally, we cannot be responsible for your own gardening procedures and/or cultural efforts and your own garden experiences in your own garden once the shipment is received. We only supply the largest, healthiest rhizomes for all orders. For customers in the northern hemisphere please note that we cannot be held responsible for rhizomes which do not make the switch to reverse seasons and reverse hemispheres. These are matters over which we have no control. However, we always supply a generous number of gift rhizomes with all overseas shipments as a back-up for any rhizomes which do not cope with the switches.
To this end we cannot express strongly enough the fact that you MUST cut off any flowering stalks that appear in what would be the southern hemisphere spring (ie. around October or before!) immediately after you receive the rhizomes. If you do not cut off the flowering stalk you won't allow the rhizome to adjust to the reverse of seasons properly. We know that it's a huge temptation to let the stalks bloom so that you can see the pretty flower - but you are not helping the rhizome adjust by doing this!
All overseas orders are despatched via EMS, which provides a bar-coded tracking system for all shipments. If you have not received your EMS bar-coded shipment within seven days of it being despatched by us, then you need to contact your local postal office and provide them with the bar-coded details so that they can track the shipment for you in your home country.
We also ask that you confirm receipt of your overseas shipment to us so that we can use the data for use with future shipments.
If you encounter any specific problems, however, we ask that you let us know FIRST - and we will, of course, do out utmost to assist you with any delayed and/or lost shipments.
